Place: Oneroa Village
| City: Auckland, New Zealand
Oneroa is the main village of Waiheke Island in the beautiful Hauraki Gulf just 35 minutes by ferry from downtown Auckland, New Zealand.
On the northern coast of Waiheke the village has stunning views out over the sandy beach below and during the year pods of Dolphin, Orca and many other marine species spend time in the bay.
Against this back drop Oneroa village has developed its own laid back style with cafe's, restaurants, boutique shops, and art galleries for both the locals and visitors alike and to embelish the village the organisors of Sculpt Oneroa , Paora Toi-Te-Rangiuaia and Sally Smith have created an arts initiative that sees sculptural works woven into the fabric of the village for a month long period over the summer period.
The works range from the ephemeral and wall installations, through to larger sculptural works and the location of each work has been thoughtfully selected creating a dialogue between the work and its setting. The works are available for sale and all works are created by Waiheke artists and sculptors.
The event is run as a non-profit event with all profits going directly to the artists involved.
