Buses, taxis and shuttles meet the majority of all ferry sailings into Matiatia. By taxi or shuttle it is approximately a 15 minute drive and all the drivers know our establishment well. Aboard the bus, this can take up to approximately 45 minutes as it takes you on a bit of a tiki tour along the way. We recommend if travelling by foot you book a taxi to bring you to us, or we can arrange this for you if you know the sailing you will be on. If you are bringing your vehicle, you will be driving on Donald Bruce Road. At the end of this road you will come to an intersection where you will need to turn right towards Onetangi. Taxis operate 7 days per week, and some companies operate 24 hours. It is a good idea to book large groups if requiring a number of vehicles as they can get extremely busy over the summer season and weekends. If you have to be somewhere at a certain time in the busy months and for wedding groups – we recommend pre-booking your vehicle at least two hours before you would like to be picked up. Protecting the Sand Dunes
Sand dunes are vital to the survival of beaches and protect homes and habitats further inshore from salt spray and sand. Beaches, with their associated sand banks and sand dunes, are coastal shock absorbers, diffusing the impact of ocean waves. The sand dunes are part of the natural cycle of shore protection and the plants and animals that live on them contribute to this dynamic process.
